Construction Project Updates

111th elwood and 111th street (Elwood to U.S. 75)
This project is in the design phase. The concept is to construct a 5-lane intersection with left turn lanes and full signalization and to make 111th Street 3 lanes. Rights-of-way have been acquired, and utility relocations have started.
Elwood (Main to 111th street)
The design for this project is expected to be completed mid-2019. The concept is to construct an improved 2-lane street between Main Street and 111th Street.
Main Street (Date Street east to TSU Railroad)
The concept of this project is to improve the existing 3 lane configuration of Main Street and add curbing, drainage, and landscaping to this portion of downtown. The final design is expected to be completed in fall 2019.
south Elm Street improvements (111th Street to 131st Street)
Engineering design has been initiated to expand Elm Street to 5 lanes from 111th Street to approximately 125th Street South and transition to 3 lanes to 131st Street. A pedestrian trail will be included along with the 5-lane segment. The design is expected to be completed in 2019.
1st street improvements (Aquarium place to aquarium drive)
This project is to construct street and drainage improvements on 1st Street from Aquarium Place south to Aquarium Drive. The design is expected to be completed in spring 2019.
7th street improvements (Aquarium place to aquarium drive)
This project is to construct street and drainage improvements on 7th Street from Aquarium Place south to Aquarium Drive. The design is expected to be complete in spring 2019.
Alleyway improvements (1st to 2nd street)
This is a Vision 2025 project for alleyway improvements between 1st Street and 2nd Street. The improvements, which will provide connectivity from Downtown Main Street and the Downtown Commons, are expected to be completed in April 2019.
