Wal-Mart bringing new Neighborhood Market to Jenks

 

Less than a month after announcing a new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market in Owasso, the retail giant has announced another one for Jenks.

Anne Hatfield, a spokeswoman for Wal-Mart, said the Bentonville, Arkansas-based chain hopes to open up the latest location in its grocery chain by the end of the year.

Tulsa-area land records indicate the company spent $1.86 million to buy 40.4 acres for the store at the northwest corner of Elm and 111th streets. The seller was Melody Development Inc.

on being  elected from among their fellow councilors as Mayor and Vice Mayor during the City Council meeting on April 20th.  Every two years City Council elects its new officers (Mayor and Vice Mayor) after the latest municipal election for city councilors.  Councilman Bo Summers has joined City Council as a new member representing Ward No. 1.

Jenks planetarium offers students a look at the big picture

JENKS — “You are the sun.”

So said Dan Zielinski to a group of high school students during their recent visit to the Jenks Planetarium. Zielinski, director of the planetarium, was leading the environmental science class through a lesson about the seasons.

The planetarium, which opened about four years ago in Jenks Public Schools’ new Math and Science Center, is used to teach a variety of subjects, ranging from physics to art history.

“The No. 1 thing planetariums are so great at is perspective,” Zielinski said.
