Engineering
Overview
The Engineering Department is responsible for the planning and design of current and future needs regarding the City's infrastructure. Infrastructure is defined as the City's:
- Buildings
- Parks
- Roadways
- Sewer systems
- Storm drain systems
- Water systems and other City facilities
The City Engineer's Office collaborates with businesses, citizens, City government and state departments on the City’s infrastructure design and construction.
Additional Responsibilities
The Engineering Department implements and administers the provisions in the City's Code of Ordinances and state/federal regulations relating to City infrastructure design and construction, floodplain management and storm-water quality. The Engineering Department is also responsible for the issuance of paving and utility construction permits and the review and approval of plans for new construction and reconstruction throughout the City.
