JENKS CITY COUNCIL PASSES ORDINANCE 1511 (SAFER AT HOME) FOR CITY OF JENKS
At an Emergency Meeting, on March 29, 2020, Jenks City Council passed Ordinance 1511 which orders Jenks citizens to shelter in their homes other than conducting essential activities or operating essential businesses.
Ordinance 1511 is similar to what surrounding areas are also putting in place. Safer at Home is our message to Jenks citizens.
Jenks has put several safety measures in place, asking citizens to minimize their time outside their homes except for essential work or leaving to buy essential items like groceries.
This ordinance applies to Jenks citizens of any age and no longer allows any public or private event or social gathering outside of a family unit. Ordinance 1511 also legally requires social distancing when in public - at least 6 feet between yourself and others (that do not live in your household).
The Jenks Police Department is enforcing the new ordinance but wants to convey they are here to first educate and confirm understanding. Citations may be issued with repeat offenders. There is a learning curve with all the changes implemented and the police department is here to help.
Jenks Police would like to confirm that essential workers and businesses do NOT need documentation, nor does anyone else needing to make essential trips to these businesses.
There are many questions surrounding Safer at Home orders. Please see our Frequently Asked Questions (on our main COVID-19 Updates Page), which also provides links to essential and non-essential businesses as issued by the Governor.
